Three down…

sm1 sm2

These three Space Marines were pretty trivial to finish off – I’d mostly painted them before embarking on the 50 models challenge, but they needed a bit more layering and their bases doing.

They are really nice, detailed sculpts, and the feathering on their chests is nice and deep. The shields are also exceptionally well done.

Having said that, I am glad that I don’t have many more Space Marines left to paint – I don’t think there are any left in this particular selection of 50 – as I feel like my time with the Adeptus Astartes is coming to a close. While I have enjoyed everything involving the Bolter, I feel that everything is just getting a bit… stale? Too much of a good thing, maybe?

Even the latest book I\’m reading, Dark Apostle, isn’t doing much to inspire me – it feels like too much of a gore-porn novel with little substance to keep it propped up. As a reader, I feel like I need something a bit ‘more’ to my stories. I might look at some of the Warhammer Crime novels again after this one; I love Warhammer as a grimdark setting; it\’s gritty and tragic and nasty (perfect), but I need something other than ‘Boltgun goes boom’ or ‘Chaos like blood.’

Still, three models down, that’s nothing to be sniffed at!!

Sadly, I never figured out how to get a fancy progress bar on the home page, but I *did* add a widget to keep track the old-fashioned way!

3/50!
