If you thought my triumphant return to blogging would involve anything other than Orc Smut, I am happy to disappoint you.
I’m coming back with a couple of Mini-Reviews.
Halloween Swirl (I read as Owned by the Orcs by Kylie Love and Mated to my Orc Professor by Sara Goodhead.
Owned by the Orcs
Cole and Liam move from their native home in the forest into modern America where they happen to move in next door to their fated mate, Mariam.
Owned by the Orcs is a reverse-harem book that felt a little lost in terms of identity. It’s short and smutty. Too long and feelsy for erotica, but too short and underdeveloped for a romance. It was partially feel-good and partially word porn and never really settled on either avenue.
There’s very little other than a lot of thigh clenching and explicit language, and the conflict is resolved with a simple growl from Liam – be it towards a nosy werewolf or Mariam herself.
Entertaining and easy enough to read, but I’d have enjoyed it a lot more if it feel into either camp, rather than a halfway house.
Mated to my Orc Professor
I am feeling a little doomed to pick up mediocre Orc Books! Mated to my Orc Professor came up on an Amazon search for Orc Smut, so I read it via Kindle Unlimited. Mated to my Orc Professor is… pretty much what the cover looks like.
A nameless FMC is struggling with her grades and goes to her orc professor, Dargan, to earn some extra credits (Can I make it any more obvious?)
It’s pure smut. Has a knotting kink which blindsided be a bit and… well… that was that!
I like a bit more substance to my reads, to be honest with you. Even if it’s just a name rather than a self-insert. Characters with more depth to them that a hulking great cock!
But it was decently written and passed about half an hour of spare time.
