Blurb/Synopsis
Only from out of great conflict can true heroes arise. With the galaxy aflame and war on an unimaginable scale tearing the Imperium apart, champions of light and darkness venture onto countless fields of battle in service to their masters. They ask not for remembrance or reward – simply to meet their destiny head-on, and only by embracing that destiny will they come to learn what the unseen future may yet hold for them… This Horus Heresy anthology contains eighteen short stories by authors such as Graham McNeill, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Nick Kyme and many more. Also, Chris Wraight\’s acclaimed novella Brotherhood of the Storm delves into the nature of the elusive White Scars Legion, and their questionable sense of duty to the Emperor.
Review
Read as part of the Horus Heresy buddy read-along with Dave. Finished this one a few weeks ago and really need to start writing my thoughts down on paper about anthology books, cause I’ll be honest, this book was about as memorable as a plastic carrier bag.
Brotherhood of the Storm by Chris Wraight
Writing Space Marines in the First Person is a terrible idea.
Serpent by John French
Something about cultists?
Hunter’s Moon by Guy Haley
I liked this one! Its about a fisherman telling the story of when he met a Space Wolf.
Veritas Ferrum by David Annandale
A prequel to Damnation of Pythos. How the Veritas Ferum arrived late to the Dropsite Massacre Party late and how they managed to escape the battle/s. Probably would have worked better in the actual novel Damnation of Pythis, but you know GW/BL, they have to get their money somehow!
Riven by John French
Erm…
Strike and Fade by Guy Haley
Really short. Probably for the best considering my general thoughts on Guy Haley
Honour to the Dead by Gav Thorpe
I liked this one too. It features a mother trying to escape a batter on Calth with her kiddo.
Butcher’s Nails by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
The best book in the whole anthology.
Honestly… I\’m bored even writing this review, so I\’m going to part it here. This anthology was entirely skippable and drained my growing energy for Warhammer related books…

It’s just these damned anthologies, they’re terrible!
