Does anyone else feel like their art changes between the sketching phase and the completion phase?

I know that the obvious answer is yes, because it clearly does. But, what I feel is that there is so much life and energy in sketches, but in artwork in it\’s final form feels rather… lifeless compared?

Just to show the two side by side as a comparison. There is something certainly more refined about the coloured version but I can feel more life and energy in sketches. I think it\’s one of the wonderful things about art. I mean, one doesn\’t devalue the other and they\’re both there for anyone and everyone to enjoy. I just though it was something interesting to think about.

I feel the same way. Its great seeing the finished (or in my case nearly finished piece) although sometimes, my rough pencil drawings seem better than the final piece!no idea why though, lol

Yeah, I know how you feel. I like my final pieces as well, but there is *something* about sketches which is great too~

All down to personal preference. I prefer the drawn sketches as I feel they emanate more character (don’t know why). Very good thought! Talented!
