Update: September 2021

Here we are again, with another update; mostly of things to come. Reading and future plans. For the sharp-eyed, you\’ll have noticed that the blog is once again host to a whole plethora of \’stuff.\’ To cut a long story short, I\’ve been working with a counsellor and together we discussed internet safety, addiction amongst a whole host of other things. One of the ways to combat the above is to really cut down on places I am \’at\’ on the internet. Spaces I can easily moderate. As such, I came up with the thought of leaving most social media platforms and combining all my blogs together; for ease of moderation and because I am a whole person not a combination of compartments. It does mean things will be somewhat disjointed on here – book reviews, models, life, art & anything else I think might be interesting! But, it does feel better to be sharing it as a whole, rather than trying to keep up with 3 or 4 different blogs.

With that announcement out of the way, let\’s get on with the good \’stuff\’

Reading Plans

While staying with my parents, I went to two large book sales and ended up buying a heap of books from both. Mostly thrillers/crime and Sharpe novels for further down the line in that series.

\"\"

Deliverance Lost

I am currently half way through reading Deliverance Lost with Dave for our buddy read of the Horus Heresy series – I\’d like to try and get another one in the series finished before the end of September, but we shall see how it goes. This one is taking me a bit to get through, mostly because I\’ve been fitting in other books at the same time!

\"\"

The Man Who Died Twice

I read the first of this series; The Thursday Murder Club, while I was away – staying at my Parents. And was approved to read this via NetGalley, it\’s pretty high on my list. A review for The Thursday Murder Club is currently in the works, so be on the look out for that in the near future. (As well as The Silkworm, which I also read during that time.

\"\"

The Burning

I was sent a copy of this by Penguin to review, so I\’m putting it pretty high on my list for next month, I\’ve read a few Jonathan Kellerman books already, so I am looking forward to this one (I\’m currently reading When the Bough Breaks which I grabbed during the aforementioned book sales)

For other books, I have a few of the Warhammer Crime books that I\’d like to read during September and I\’d like to pick up Sharpes Rifles as well, for something different.

Hobby Plans

I am going to be honest, I am in a bit of a hobby slump at the moment. I\’m not pushing it so any models that get shared next month will be a bit of a bonus!

Other plans

As for other plans next month, things are pretty open. I\’m going into the charity shop again a few days of the week and on Monday Evenings I am going to restart going to the Bury Art Society; as I feel like I have been lacking in terms of art direction. I\’d really like to get the doodle art going again – after finding some old cards at my Parents house; it was a bit of a blast from the past, but it might be worth picking them up again as something to try out during the Art Society. If I get anything done, I\’ll be sharing that here too.
I\’m not so interested in drawing character based art at this time; as I feel like that chapter in life has come to its inevitable close.

Geocaching, Infraredphotograhy and the likes will generally happen on an as and when basis; dependant mostly on weather and inclinations. They are fun hobbies that all tie in rather well with walking (and walking the dog!)

I am toying with the idea of writing Movie Reviews as well as book reviews. Marcus and I went to the cinema during the summer holidays to see the Paw Patrol Movie and I think it might be nice to try and discuss movies here again too.

Either way, there should be a decent amount of activity and sharing on the blog next month, regardless of what gets achieved from the \’lists.\’

I hear you there. I’m going to try and put some page time into DL this week/end and try and get it finished.
Summer holidays are over now, so spending a bit of time catching up with the things that have piled up (Emails, Goodreads, blog comments, ect)

Getting everything into one place sounds sensible to me, Jenn! 🙂 I’ve seen the negative side of social media in action with friends and family, so I find having a blog suits me better! Film reviews sound like a good idea!

Thanks a lot for the comment. It’s working out great so far!
Social media breed toxicity for some reason. I am glad to have left it behind to focus on more important things.
And, blogging is addictive too, the people, the posts, the stats!!
I’ll see what I can think up for film reviews, then, thanks for the encouragement.

I hope you can stay out of the cesspit that is social media. I left facebook years ago and haven’t looked back.

And I applaud pulling everything into one blog too. Gives a more rounded view of who you are instead of just fragments….

I have a Facebook still, mostly for keeping in touch with family and sharing the occasional link or two! Other than that, there’s not much left social media wise. It’s very liberating.

I am enjoying the challenges of having one blog and it’s made me feel a lot safer and more comfortable too.

Thank you, I have found this as well. I think because you’re putting more of yourself in words on a blog, you have more of a chance of finding the ‘right’ people.
